It is with sorrow that Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Sister Frances Crummy of Greensboro, NC, formally of Darlington, SC.  Sister Crummy passed on Sunday, December 5, 2021 in Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. 

Memorial Services is 1:00Pm on Friday, December 17, 2021 in the Chapel of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. 

Obituary

     Sister Frances “Sister” Crummy was born in Darlington County, SC on June 29, 1945 a daughter of the late Booker T. Bennett and Fannie Lee Patterson Bennett. She departed this life on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.

    She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Rosenwald High School Class of 1965.

     At an early age, she was baptized at Mt. Rona Baptist Church, Society Hill, SC and later became a member of First In Christ Church in NC where she served as a Missionary, Usher and Bible Study Teacher.  Frances was a woman of God and enjoyed going to church.  She was beautiful inside and out. 

   She loved singing, shopping and talking; but most of all she loved the Lord.

   Frances was very active in the work force and to name a few companies she was employed: Wrangler Jeans Company, Levi Strauss, Azar Sewing Company and others.

   She was joined in marriage to the late Reverend Earl Crummy.

   She was preceded in death by her granddaughter whom she loved dearly, Cierra Demetria Bennett; her brother, Frank Bennett; her sisters: Mary B. Bruce and Bessie Smith.

   Those left to cherish her memory are:  her daughter, Deloris Bennett of Greensboro, NC; a great granddaughter, Leonna Nicole Bennett of Greensboro, NC; four brothers: James “Pop” (Ethel) Bennett of Sanford, FL, Willie (Thair) Bennett, Arthur “Artie” Bennett and Booker T. Bennett, Jr. all of Darlington, SC; three sisters: Dorothy Goodwin of Washington, DC, Rosa (Clarence) Market of Irvington, NJ and Gloria (Willie) Smith of Darlington, SC; a brother-in-law, Joseph Bruce of Darlington, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends all of whom she loved dearly.
