“God is our refuge and strength a very present help in our times of trouble. Psalm 46:1

It is with rush of emotions and mounds of questions that loom in our mind of why such things as this occur.  However, all things are in the hands of the Master and Creator of us all and He is too just to make any mistakes.

Ms. Willie Mae Williams was born on November 9, 1957 in Darlington County, South Carolina. She was the loving baby girl of the late  James Williams, Jr. and Dora Burns Williams. On Tuesday evening, March 21, 2023 the curtains fell on our Beloved and granted her peace at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC.

“Tiny”, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, received her education at Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Rosenwald High School, Society Hill. After graduating, Tiny attended Adult Daycare programs in Cheraw and Darlington of which she loved. She was enrolled at Bridging the Gap from 2010-2018 where she received all sorts of awards.

At an early age, she was converted, baptized and joinedBethesda Baptist Church. Tiny always loved going to church and praising the Lord. Not only at church she praised the Lord, but at home too.

Things she loved to do:  folding clothes, dancing, singing, cleaning the house, moving things around and out of place that would have to be found afterwards, she loved singing praise songs and worshiping. You would have to tell her go to sleep because she would be having what she called, “church in bed”. Tiny was loved unconditionally and her presence will be truly missed but she will always be in our hearts.

Unfortunately, after her father became ill, Tiny went to live with her oldest sister and brother-in-law, Doretha and James Benjamin in Dovesville, SC for over 30 years. After Doretha could no longer care for “Tiny”, she moved back to Society Hill with her sister, Shirley Redfearn.

Tiny enjoyed Family gatherings, cookouts, celebrating birthdays and road trips to Atlanta, GA, Brooklyn, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Jacksonville and Tallahassee, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Middleton; four brothers, George Williams, James Williams, III, Willie Williams and Frank Williams.

Willie Mae presence will be greatly missed and cherished as we bid her good-bye in sorrow by: her loving sisters: Doretha (James) Benjamin of Dovesville, SC, Shirley W. Redfearn and Roberta Ludd both of Society Hill, SC; three sisters-in-law: Teresa Williams of Society Hill, SC, Patricia Williams of Hartsville, SC and Janie Williams of Greenville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of a sister, Mrs. Shirley Redfearn, 121 Williamson Drive, Society Hill, SC.
