It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Ms.Mary Ann Brockington. Ms. Brockington expired on Monday, October 26, 2020 at her residence.
Graveside service is 11:00am Saturday, October 31, 2020 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Dovesville. Interment will follow.
Obituary
Ms. Maryann Brockington entered the world on May 13, 1961 in Darlington, SC.
Maryann was called home on Monday, October 26, 2020 at her residence. She was one of 7 children born the daughter of the late James Junior Williams and Mary Frances Brockington.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Mayo High School Class of 1978.
She lived most of her life in Darlington where she was gainfully employed her last employment was at Presbyterian Home of Florence as a Housekeeper.
Those left to cherish her memory are: two daughters: Regina R. Brockington of Darlington, SC and Cornelia A. Brockington of Columbia, SC; one son, Justin L. Brockington of the home;one grandson, Ja’Quez R. Richardson; three sisters: April Y. Williams of Baltimore, MD, Bobby (Richard) Samuel of Florence, SC and Thomasina (Kenneth) Thomas of Darlington,SC; two brothers: Robert (Jessica) Brockington of Pittsburgh, PA and Lewis (La’Wanda) Baker of Darlington, SC; two half-sisters: Delores Brown and Doris Brown both of Darlington, SC; one half-brother, Jimmy Williams of New York; one sister-in-law, Cinda Black of Florence, SC; two aunts: Mary L. Brockington and Willie Mae (Sylvester) Byrd both of Darlington, SC; two uncles: Toney (Sissy) Brockington of North Carolina and Willie Brockington of Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Maryann was proceeded in death by; Her companion of 32 years Mr. Francis L. “Nada” Wingate. Two brothers: Elder Oscar Leon Black and Morris Brockington.
Ms. Maryann Brockington loved her children, family and life. To know her was to love her. She was a great cook who would feed you and then tell you off “Hear me now”. She will be missed dearly and loved forever.
