Ms. Mary Rebecca Sellers

With heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Sellers family announce the passing of Ms. Mary Rebecca Sellers of Darlington, SC. Ms. Sellers transitioned on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at her home following an illness. 

The family will be receiving friends at the residence of a daughter, 407 E. Broad St, Darlington, SC.

Public viewing will be held 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., 612 S Main St, Darlington, SC.

A funeral service will be held privately at a later time.

Obituary

    Mary Rebecca Sellers was born on March 18, 1953, in Sumter County. She obtained her education in the public county of Darlington, SC and was a proud graduate of Mayo High School, Class of 1972. Following her graduation, she relocated to New Rochelle, New York, where she pursued a meaningful career in healthcare. Later in life, Rebecca returned to her home state of South Carolina, where she continued to serve her community with dedication and care as a full-time beautician and residential home consultant.

    Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Emma Sellers, as well as several beloved siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory three devoted children: one son, Eric D. Sellers of Columbia, SC; and two daughters, Appollonia Timmons (Jerome) of Atlanta, GA, and Latia Sellers of Darlington, SC. She was a grandmother to eight grandchildren—Brandon Lybrand, Zachary Sellers, Xavier Sellers, Lyric Henderson, Ty Edwards, Chloe Edwards, Riley Timmons, Laryn Timmons, and Royal Edwards—and a great-grandmother to Morgan Lybrand, Hensley Lybrand, and Brandon Lybrand, Jr.
 
    Rebecca is also survived by her loving siblings: Evelyn Ingram, Betty Odums (William), Katrina Blackmon (Louis), Deloris Amaro, Lorenzo Sellers (Elizabeth), and Sadie Guinn (Robert). She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, with whom she shared many special and cherished relationships.
