Ms. Mary "BUNCH" Gattison

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Ms. Mary "Bunch" Gattison of Darlington.  "Bunch" as she was affectionately called passed away peacefully on Monday, March 22, 2021 at her home surrounding by her family following an extended illness. 

Funeral service is 1:00PM on Friday, March 26, 2021 in Round O Baptist Church Cemetery.  Interment will follow.  Social distancing and mask wearing is required during this service. 

Life Reflections 

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up to me a crown which the lord the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto them also that love his appearing.

Mary Agnes “Bunch” Gattison was born to the late Pinkney and Margeret Henderson Gattison. She transitioned peacefully from labor to reward at her home surrounded by her loving family on March 22, 2021.

“Bunch” as she was affectionately called by her family and friends was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

At an early age she joined Round O Missionary Baptist Church.

“Bunch” attended St. Johns High School, class of 1973. She was last employed at Johnny’s Truck Stop and also did CNA work for several years. 
“Bunch” was also a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. 

Those left to cherish her precious memories: One daughter, Patti (Jamel) Flemming; Three granddaughters, ShaQuaya Gattison, Destiny Flemming, and London Flemming; Four Brothers: Perry (Sadie) Gattison, Eddie (Lillie) Gattison, Horace (Shirley) Gattison, and Anthony Gattison; Three Sisters: Viola Bruce, Deloris Gattison, and Loretta Gattison; One Aunt, Bertha Gattison; A special brother, Bobby Henderson; Special friends Mary Joint, Linda Josey, Shirley Williamson, Evelyn Walker, Shirley Patterson, Valerie Grant, Emma Jordan, Sammie Cotton and Leroy Patterson; A host of nieces, nephews, and family members. 

Those who preceded her in death: Her son, TaQuan Ravon Gattison; Grandson, Rylan Rashad Frazier; Four brothers: Pinkney Gattison Jr., Alphonso Gattison, Isaiah Gattison, and Robert Gattison; Two sisters: Dorthy Gattison, and Carrie Mae Graham. 

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Jamel Flemming, 408 Eastburn Court, Darlington, from 3:00 - 7:00PM daily.  Please wear mask when visiting the residence.
