Obituary

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Jackson family announces the transition of Ms. Mary Ann Jackson of Darlington.  Ms. Jackson exchanged time for eternity on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Oakhaven Nursing Facility following an illness. 

Funeral service is 11:00AM on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 

 

Obituary

     “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race.  I have kept the faith.”

          Ms. Mary Ann Jackson was born in Darlington, SC on February 14, 1958 a daughter of the late John Jackson, Sr. and Amanda “Ruthie Lee” Cotton Jackson.  She transitioned peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Oakhaven Nursing Home, Darlington, SC.

     She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.  Mary Ann was employed with Yogi Bear in Hartsville, SC.

     Mary Ann was raised in Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Darlington, SC.  As she grew up, she sang on the Celestial Choir and Usher Board until her health declined.

     Mary Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend.  To know her was to love her.  There will be a vacant place in the home and in our hearts.  She will be missed by her family who dearly loved her.

     Mary Ann leaves a legacy of everlasting love and devotion:  two sons: Letron (Lita) Jackson and Larry Tyrone Jackson both of Darlington, SC; a sister, Yvonne (Bernard) Joint of Darlington, SC; two brothers: John (Doris) Jackson and Jerome Jackson both of Hartsville, SC; a daughter-in-law, Jannie Wilds of Darlington, SC; special cousin: Margarine (Angel) Oyola of Darlington, SC; special friend, James Dewitt of Darlington, SC; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three nieces; three nephews; several cousins, other relatives and friends.

     Mary Ann was preceded in death by:  her parents: John Jackson, Sr. and Amanda “Ruthie Lee” Jackson; her son, Mark Jackson and her brother, Troy Jackson.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of Yvonne Joint, 228 Floyds Road, Darlington.
