Ms. Marilyn Hodges

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Hodges family share the passing of Ms. Marilyn Hodges of Darlington. Ms. Hodges transitioned on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center from an illness. 

Funeral service is 1:00PM on Saturday, November 26, 2022 in Lawson Grove Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens. 

Obituary

   “ A light from our household is gone; a voice we love is still; a place is vacant in our home that never can be filled.”

   Ms. Marilyn Hodges was born in Darlington, South Carolina on August 25, 1959 a daughter of the late James Hodges and Mary Louise Coe Hodges.  She entered into her final rest on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

    She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School graduating from Mayo High School Class of 1977.

    Marilyn lived all her life in Darlington where she worked various jobs.  Her last employment was with Citi Trends Distribution Center, Darlington, SC until her health declined.

   Marilyn was a very loving mother, grandmother, sister, cousinand friend.  She loved and adored her grandchildren and received their love back.  Marilyn loved her Mayo Golden Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers. She loved that both teams wore black and gold. She was a very giving person.  Her ministry was to feed those who were hungry.  She cooked everyday and fed anyone that wanted something to eat: the homeless, the neighborhood, her family; all you needed to do was …. Ask! She will be greatly missed by all.

    She was preceded in death by:  her parents, James and Mary Louise Hodges and a son, Coraygus Hodges.

    Those left to cherish Marilyn’s precious memory are:  her children: Tia (T.J.) Antrum and Belafonte Hodges both of Darlington, SC; six grandchildren: Aiana Hodges, Tiana Hodges, TaNiyah Antrum, Raygan Hodges, Lyric Hodges and Trayton Antrum; three bonus grandchildren: Jaquan “J.Q.” Sawyer, Zamyra Burrell and MaKyla Commander; one brother, James Hodges of Darlington, SC; two uncles, Wilbert C. Jacobs (Catherine) of New York and J. C. Coe of Darlington, SC; one aunt, Geneva Hodges of Darlington, SC; a special bonus daughter, Tabalon Pettigrew of Timmonsville, SC; two special friends: Sheila Milton and Gladys Green; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held and the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Tia and TJ Antrum, 256 Horseshoe Bend Drive, Darlington.
