Obituary

Margaret "Marge" Carraway was born on February 14, 1948, to the late Ada Margaret Carraway and Elijah Enoch. Affectionately known to many as "Marge," she peacefully entered into her final rest on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

Marge grew up in the Darlington County area but later moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, as a teenager. She graduated from James B. Dudley High School, Class of 1967.

After returning to Lamar, South Carolina, Marge worked various jobs and touched many lives with her kindness, humor, and caring spirit. However, the role she cherished most was being a devoted mother and grandmother.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children: April, Antoine, and Monyette Carraway. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Shanice Jackson, Mikkel Carraway, and Daeyonna Wilson, all of Lamar, South Carolina, and Michael (Denarius) Jackson Ill of Atlanta, Georgia. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Avaris James (Timmonsville), Ju'Quais Jackson-Sumter, Ca'Niya Brown (Lamar), Javeon Jackson (Atlanta, GA), and a special great-granddaughter, A'Nylah Fajardo.

Marge's heart extended beyond her immediate family. She shared a special bond with her cousin, Esther Mae Burris, and helped raise a special daughter, De Vosha Dials of Atlanta, Georgia. She also shared countless joyful memories with her lifelong friends Dora Durant, Polly Boone, and Mae Alice Cooper, who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her mother, Ada Margaret Carraway; her special aunts, Bertha Carraway Alexander and Idella Carraway; her uncles; her grandfather, Flowers Carraway; and her beloved granddaughter, Dontasia Carraway-Wilson.

Marge's life was filled with love, laughter, and compassion. She had a gift for making everyone around her feel valued and loved. Her strength, warmth, and faith will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

"She fought a good fight, she finished her course, she kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7
