Ms. Magnolia Cherry Johnson

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Ms. Magnolia Cherry Johnson.  Ms. Johnson passed on Friday, June 3, 2022 in a Florence hospital following an illness. 

Funeral service is 11:00am on Friday, June 10, 2022 in Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. 

Obituary

Mrs. Magnolia Cherry Johnson was born in Darlington, South Carolina on March 8, 1961, a daughter of the late Charles Cherry, Sr. and Dicie Dewitt Cherry. She entered into her final resting place on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Regency Hospital of Florence, SC.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.
Magnolia lived all her life in Darlington where she was gainfully employed at BJ’s Restaurant in Darlington later becoming Bazen Restaurant in Florence, SC.
She was married twice, first to Curtis Lee McCurry and to this union four children were born; a daughter, Kalihia Graham preceded her in death. Later she was united in marriage to the late Willie Johnson.
Those left to cherish her memory are: three children: Terrence McCurry, Catrina McCurry and Dicie McCurry; nine grandchildren: Ka’Sha, Shamar, Tyreik, Ra’Zzell, Oreon, Dajsha, Jazi, Kelvin and T’wane; four great grandchildren; two brothers: Donald Cherry and David Cherry; four sisters: Dora Frierson, Zakia (Abdullah) Rasheed, Rosa Lee Cherry and Ella Mae Stevenson; a son-in-law, brother and sister-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by: two brothers, Charles Cherry, Jr. and Wallace Cherry; a sister, Leila James; a brother-in-law, Phillip Frierson.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at 118 Waterman Avenue, Florence.
