Ms. Lurline Washington Taylor

It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Ms. Lurline Washington Taylor of Darlington.  Ms. Taylor expired on Monday, August 30, 2021 at her residence following a brief illness.  

Funeral service is 2:00PM on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Darlington Memorial Cemetery. Interment will follow. Please adhere to mask wearing and social distancing while attending this service. 

 Obituary

      Mrs. Lurlene Washington Taylor, known as “Cheryl,” the daughter of the late Jessie Mae Gilbert Washington and Chappel Washington was born November 16th, 1955 in Darlington, SC. She entered into her eternal rest on Monday, August 30th, 2021 at her home.

     “Cheryl” as she was affectionately called, received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School System.   She was employed as a Home Health Nurse.

      Those left to cherish her memory are:  her husband, Michael Taylor; one son, Fredrick Washington of Darlington, SC; two daughters: Tiffanyi Washington of Atlanta, GA and Stephanie Washington of Darlington, SC; three grandchildren: Fredrianna (Geonquaze) Woods, Jaquan Washington both of Darlington, SC and Christian Richardson of Atlanta, GA; two great-grandchildren:  Alexander Wallace and Kamari Washington; four sisters: Jessie Washington of Darlington, SC, Hattie Washington of Bennettsville, SC, Shirley Ann Washington of Hartsville, SC and Elaine Washington (Edward) Damon of Darlington, SC; three brothers: Dorsey Gilbert of California, Willie Washington of Hartsville SC, and Stanley Washington; a special nephew: Keith Gilbert; one special niece, Demetria Washington; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

     She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Sade Michelle Taylor; her siblings: Essie Washington, Alberta Gilbert, Almetta Gilbert and James Washington; a special nephew, Ricky Washington.                              

At this time, there will be no visitation at the request of the family.
