                                                                 ~Life Story~

Ms. Leeann Ervin was born in Darlington, SC on May 5, 1940, a daughter of the late Kadell Berry Ervin, Sr. and Dilsie Levan Stevenson Ervin.  She entered into her final resting place on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC.

She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools where she later obtained her GED.

At an early age, Leeann joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served on the Senior Usher Board and sang with the CL Bowen Singers.  She loved her church and her church family and was honored to receive a 50-year member plaque on February 9, 2003.  Humble and honored to receive such recognition, Leeann boasted about her plaque for several months.

Although Leeann was never married and never had children of her own, she happily took on the role of raising her grand-nephew, Robert Anthony, and served in that role with great pride and gratitude.  Leeann also took a huge interest in her nephew, George Ervin Jr. she was his biggest cheerleader. Her most cherished moment was attending the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, FL to watch him play.

You never had to guess how or what Leeann felt or thought about you because she was a straight shooter.  She said what she meant and she meant what she said.  Even with that type of demeanor and attitude, underneath the tough shell was a very soft-hearted woman who would go above and beyond for anyone that needed her, all the while keeping it very real with you.  That’s how you knew she loved you.

Leeann was gainfully employed as a housekeeper at Thunder Bird, Quality Inn, Wilson Laundry and lastly at Medford Place Nursing Home where she later retired.

Those left to cherish the loving memory of Leeann are: her brother: Kadell (Sadie) Ervin, Jr. of Cleveland, OH,  her two special and devoted nephews: Robert Anthony of Stockbridge, GA and George (Hattie) Ervin Jr. of Darlington, SC, three special nieces: Geraldine Wright, Patricia (Andre) Pooler, and Jacqueline Lyde all of Darlington, SC, two special nephews: Danny (Deborah) Ervin of Darlington, SC and LeeNorris Ervin of Germantown, MD, a host of nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Those who proceeded her in death are her parents: Kadell Berry Ervin, Sr. and Dilsie Levan Stevenson Ervin, one sister: Lillian Ervin, two brothers: George (Bernetha) Ervin, Sr. and Edward Ervin all of Darlington, SC, one niece: Leeann “Peewee” Ervin of Cleveland, OH and two nephews: Victor Ervin of Cleveland, OH and Bernard Ervin of Darlington, SC.

Visitation for the Ervin Family will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm daily at the residence of the late George and Berneatha Ervin, 141 Kirven Street, Darlington.
