It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Ms. Judy McKeller of Darlington. Ms. McKeller passed on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in a Florence Hospital after an illness.
Funeral service is 11:00AM on Friday, September 3, 2021 in Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. Please adhere to mask wearing and social distancing for this service.
Obituary
Ms. Judy McKeller was born on March 21, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York the daughter of the late James Earl McKeller and of the late Cornelia McCullum. She depart this life for a place of eternal rest on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the Medical University of South Carolina Health Medical Center, Florence, SC.
She received her formal education in the Kings County Public Schools where she attended Maxwell High School in New York City.
She worked for Metropolitan Transit Authority in New York. While in New York, she was a member of the Elks – Past Daughter Ruler.
After leaving New York, she made her home in Gainesville, Florida where she was employed at the City of Alachua Police Department. Finally, she moved to South Carolina.
Judy was loved by many and will be sadly missed. She loved dancing, singing and enjoying family gatherings. One thing for sure whenever you called on Judy for whatever reason she was there. She knew how to brighten up anybody’s day with her beautiful and friendly smile.
Those left to cherish her memory are: one daughter, Belinda McKeller-Solomon; son-in-law, Sherman Solomon; her siblings: Clara Yates (Joan Amos), Barbara McCullum (Leroy Sowell), Iva Petty and Elizabeth McKeller (Terrance Dudley);grandchildren: Dynasia, Gissell and Shanary; several aunts and uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who mourns her passing.
