Ms. Joretta Pringle

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Pringle family announce the passing of Ms. Joretta Pringle of Lamar, SC.  Ms. Pringle passed on Monday, June 20, 2022 in McLeod Regional Medical Center following an illness. 

Funeral service is 2:00pm on Monday, June 27, 2022 in the Chapel of Mitchell-Josey. 

Obituary

     Ms. Joretta Durant Pringle was born June 20,  1945 in Lamar, South Carolina of Darlington County a daughter of the late Adam and Eva Mae Damon Durant. She entered into her final resting place on Monday, June 20, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

     She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools and attended Bethany Baptist Church at an early age.  

     “Betty Joe”, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, will be greatly missed throughout the community but especially in her home where there was laughter and always things that kept her smiling.

     Joretta was employed at Amersons Nursery in Lamar for 30 years.  She was also employed as a housekeeper at Econo Lodge Hotel in Florence, SC.

     Early in life, she was united in marriage to the late Robert Jr. Pringle and to this union six children were born.

     She was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert Jr. Pringle; a brother, Stacey Durant; two sisters: Ethel Lee and Lottie Mae Sims; two grandchildren: DaShaun Kirkland and Jamaal Pringle.

     Those left to cherish her most precious memories are:  her six children:  Robert Pringle, Gloria (James) Cottingham, Charles Pringle all of Lamar, SC, Danny Pringle of Florence, SC, Sandra (Paul) Pringle of Hartsville, SC and Gary Dolford of Fulton County, Georgia; a granddaughter and great grandson she raised in her home, Alisha Kirkland  and Daytron Pringle both of Florence, SC; two sisters: Dora A. Durant of Lamar, SC and Mary Bruce of Alton Springs, Florida; a brother, James McClain of Bishopville, SC; fifteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Daniel Robinson of Darlington, SC; a host of nieces, nephews that she loved dearly; several cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation is held at 638 E. Jackson St. Lamar, SC.
