With heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Jackson family announce the passing of Ms. Janie Mae Jackson of Darlington, SC. Ms. Jackson transitioned Friday, May 16, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.

The family is not receiving friends at the home and kindly requests no visitors at this time.

Graveside funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Faith Memorial Gardens, Rogers Rd, Darlington, SC. Interment to follow.

A Time to Be Born

Ms. Janie Mae Jackson was born on April 10, 1951 in Darlington, South Carolina  the beloved daughter of Claretha Murphy.

A Time to Die

“For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, for the memory of them shall be forgotten.” – Ecclesiastes 9:5

On Friday, May 16, 2025 at 1:10 p.m., God’s Angel came for Ms. Janie Mae Jackson at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

A Time to Live

Janie Mae received her education in Darlington County Public Schools. She began her working career at Marlow's Sewing Factory, where she was employed for seven years. She later became employed at Georgia Pacific, where she worked faithfully for 32 years until her retirement.

After retiring, Janie Mae became the devoted caregiver for her mother until her passing. She was known for her loving, nurturing spirit and her deep dedication to family.

Janie Mae was a faithful member of Christ Temple Holiness Church, where she actively served in many capacities. She held the role of Vice President of the Senior Missionary Auxiliary, Vice President of the Willing Workers Auxiliary. She also served on the Kitchen Committee, the Usher Board and the Women’s Luncheon Auxiliary.

A Time for Family

Those left to cherish her memory are: her loving mother, Claretha Murphy of Darlington, SC; her daughter, Ernestine Jackson of the home; her son, Allen Jackson of Charlotte, NC; a special grandson, Jacoby White, whom she lovingly raised as her own; other grandchildren: Kaylne Goodson of Oakland, CA, Alexis Jackson of Columbia, SC and Naiya Jackson of Charlotte, NC; one great-grandson, Mason White of Toledo, OH; her two sisters: Mary Lee Wheeler and Vivian (Johnny) Stephens both of Darlington, SC; one brother, James Jackson of Darlington, SC; a special niece, Ruth Ann (William) Rouse; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Virginia Jackson; her son, Robert Jackson and her sister, Ida Mae Gregg.
