It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Ms. Jackqueline Lowery of Darlington. Ms. Lowery transitioned peacefully on Saturday, September 18, 2021 in a Charlotte, NC hospital following a brief illness. 

Life's Celebration will be 11:00AM on Saturday, September 25, 2021 in the Darlington High School Gymnasium. Interment will be private.  Please adhere to temperature check and mask wearing while attending this service.

Jackqueline Monia Lowery, the daughter of Morris and Emma Joint Lowery was born October 6, 1992, in Florence, South Carolina.

“Moo Moo” as she was affectionately called, was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary, Sunbeam Choir member, and faithful member of the MZMBC Youth Department.

Jackqueline was a graduate of Mayo High School for Math, Science, and Technology. During her time at Mayo, she excelled in academia. Jackqueline was a member of the Beta Club, National Honor’s Society, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2011. She was awarded the prestigious Heart of The Phoenix Award.

Jackqueline continued her studies at Francis Marion University and while there participated in several organizations and held leadership positions to include Vice President of the Student Government Association, President of the Senate, member of Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, Vice President of the National Pan Hellenic Council, Treasurer of The Award Winning Francis Marion YGB Gospel Choir, and Chaplain and Treasurer of the Esteemed Xi Omicron Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In May 2016, Jackqueline was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with collaterals in Chemistry and Literature.

Jackqueline was employed with Darlington County School District as a 7th grade Science Teacher and Head Volleyball Coach. Jackqueline had a passion for each and every student that she encountered and she believed that every life mattered. Jackqueline was due to receive her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix in July 2022.

On Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina, Jackqueline answered the call of her precious Savior and went home to be with the Lord after battling Covid-19. Two sisters, Shannon Evelyn Smith and Tamara McCullough, and her maternal grandmother, Mother Jessie Bell Joint, precede her in death.

She leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories: one daughter, Jayla Lowey of the home, one son, Jaxon Lowey of the home, her parents: Emma Lowey of the home and Morris Lowery of Florence, SC; one devoted sister, Portia Sharpe of Florence, SC, three loving brothers: Jacob Joint of Richmond, VA, Jonathan (Dr. Latifah) Joint of Simpsonville, SC, and Demauris Lowery of Florence, SC; nieces and nephews: Jacuavia Joint, Jace Robinson, and Kinsley Joint; one lifelong and devoted best friend, Melissa Marshall of Darlington, her loving Godmother, Robin Graham of Pamplico, SC, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 426 Lawson Road, Darlington. Please wear mask upon visiting the residence.
