It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the transition of Ms. Ida Mae Wheeler Gregg, widow of Mr. Robert Gregg. Ms. Gregg passed on Thursday, June 3, 2021 in a Florence hospital following an illness.
Funeral service is 1:00pm on Thursday, June 10, 2021 in Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow.

“For now I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto allthem also that love His appearing.” II Timothy 4:6-8
Mrs. Ida Mae Gregg was born in Darlington, South Carolina on February 3, 1953 a son of Claretha Jackson Murphy and the late Albert McElveen. She departed this life on Thursday, June 3, 2021 in McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.
She was a member of St. Luke Pentecostal Powerhouse of Truth Church in Darlington, SC.
She lived most of her life in Darlington where she was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for most of her life.
Ida was united in marriage to the late Robert Lee Gregg, Sr. This union was blessed with three children. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and family member. She will be truly missed by all.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her mother, Claretha Murphy of Darlington, SC; her daughter, Clarise (Lucius) Zimmerman of Darlington, SC; two sons: Robert Lee Gregg, Jr. (Shirley) of Timmonsville, SC and Thomas J. Gregg of the home; 4 grandchildren: Ida Lee Gregg, Janell Gregg, Shawnell Gregg; 10 great grandchildren: Isaiah, Ivory, Za’Mairon, Ja’Mairon, Zykira, Amiracle, Alissia, Aurbriel, Azai and Ashanti; three sisters: Vivian (Johnny) Stephens, Janie Jackson and Mary (Melvin) Covington all of Darlington, SC; a brother, James Jackson of Darlington, SC; a brother-in-law, Sylvester Gregg of Darlington, SC; two sisters: Christine Gregg and Ella Mae Gregg both of Darlington, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A best friend, Henrietta Dubose.
She was preceded in death by her grandson that she raised, Christopher Gregg.
