Ms. Eva Lee "DollBaby" Lowery

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Lowery family share the passing of Ms. Eva Lee Lowery, better known as "DollBaby". Ms. Lowery passed on Monday, May 30, 2022 in a Florence Hospital following a brief illness. 

Funeral service is 11:00AM on Saturday, June 4, 2022 in Round O Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow. 

Life’s Reflections

   “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference”

    Ms. Eva Lee Lowery was born in Darlington County on August 8, 1958, a daughter of the late Marie Thomas Lowery and the late James Brown.  She departed this earthly life on Monday afternoon, May 30, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness.  

    At an early age, she was baptized and joined Round O Baptist Church.  She was attending Flat Creek Baptist Church until her health declined.  

    She attended Darlington County public schools, and was a graduate of Mayo High School Class of 1976 in Darlington, SC.  She worked at the Carriage House of Darlington before her health declined.  

    “Doll Baby”, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.  She never let her wheelchair keep her confined from living her best life.  She was the epitome of her Mom, “Marie”, always helping her neighbor and family in any way that she could.  She was known for and will be missed from riding down the road in her wheelchair to and from the Hole, Ro-Ro house and the softball fields.   She loved God and knew where her help and strength came from.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

    Eva “Doll Baby” was preceded in death by: her parents: Marie Thomas Lowery and James Brown; two brothers: Robert “Sonny” Lowery and John Henry Thomas; four sisters: Lois “Sissy” Collins, Helen “Sister” Harkless, Ruby Bush and Beatrice Addison.

    Those left to cherish her memories are: her loving children: Brandon Lowery of Charlotte, NC, Byron Lowery, La’kia Lowery and Sha’kia Lowery all of Darlington, SC;  four sisters:  Mary Blanchett of Detroit, Michigan, Minister Eula Pack, Lizzie (Walter) Williamson, Virginia Harkless all of Darlington, SC and Annette (Dwight) Nettles of Summerville, SC; four brothers:  George (Linda) Lowery of Florence, SC, Steven (Twala) Lowery of Hartsville, SC, Cary Lowery and Ricky (Annette) Brown both of Darlington, SC; one sister-in-law, Ellen Thomas of Darlington, SC; one brother-in-law, Tommy Lee Bush of Darlington, SC; one uncle, Albert Thomas of Darlington, SC; special companion, Marshall “Mike” Wallace; special friends, Rachel Foster, Carolyn Alford and Arlene Samuel; her devoted caretaker, Ruthphine Graham with Community Long Term Care; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who meant the world to her.

    “Doll Baby” was one of the sweetest persons that you would ever cross paths with.  She loved her family, especially her children, nieces, nephews and cousins.  Her presence will be missed by her family and in the Community.  

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 1417 Society Hill Road, Darlington.
