Ms. Dorothy “Dot” Jackson

December 8, 1973 ~ June 26, 2021 (age 47)

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Ms. Dorothy “Dot” Jackson of 1318 Myrtle Drive, Hartsville. “Dot”, as she was affectionately called, transitioned on Saturday morning, June 26, 2021 at her residence following an illness. 

Funeral service will be 4:00PM on Thursday, July 1, 2021 on the grounds of St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church with Overseer Annie L. Williamson, officiating.  Interment will follow in the New Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.  Please wear mask while attending this service.

Sister Dorothy Ann Jackson was the daughter of the late Jule Jackson, Jr. and Mary Alice Golphin Jackson.  She was born in Darlington, SC on December 8th, 1973. She entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at her residence.

She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools System where she attended St. John High School and graduated from Darlington Adult Education Center with her GED.  With continuing education, she received her Certification in Early Childhood Education with the passion of teaching students.  Dorothy was an outstanding teacher at True Saints Christian Daycare Center and Learning for 13 years where she gained many families and friends.

 Dorothy was an active member of St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church for 33 years under the leadership of Overseer Pastor Annie Lou Williamson.  In her early years, she served as an Usher while enjoying spiritual selections such as “Draw Me.”  She impacted the life of many and will be missed by many,

Those left to cherish her memories are:  her siblings: Willie J. Jackson of Jacksonville, FL, Tyrone Jackson, Anita Jackson, Julius Jackson, Doris Jackson and Eric Jackson all of Darlington, SC; ten nieces and nephews: Quantavois, Kendrick, Tranisha, Kentavois, Artavious, Delonta, Xavier (Wallace), Jakim, Jnyia, Jasia Jackson; one great nephew, Tyrique Jackson; along with a host of god-children: Aniya Bynum-Mosby, Cameron Smoot and La’Doria Wilson. Those who shared the joys of life are: aunts, uncles, cousins, a special friend, Mark Fox; a special cousin, Brande Jackson and a special aunt, Ruth Golphin, other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by: her parents, Jule Jr. and Mary Alice Jackson; one niece, Yoshike Jackson and one nephew, Deandre Jackson.

Visitations for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of a sister, Anita Jackson, 3128 Judor Court, Hartsville.
