Obituary

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc, and members of the Harrell family share the transitioned of Ms. Diane Harrell.  Ms. Diane passed on early Sunday morning, April 16, 2023 in a Charleston hospital following an illness.

Funeral service is 1:00pm on Thursday, April 20, 2023 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 

Obituary

     Ms. Diane Harrell was born on January 27, 1958 in Darlington, South Carolina.  She was a daughter of the late Agnes Sawyer Harrell and Collins Harrell, Sr.  On April 16, 2023 in MUSC Medical Center, Charleston, SC, Diane departed her earthly home and was called to her eternal home.  She is now resting in the arms of her heavenly father. 

     Diane received her education in Darlington County Public Schools and was a graduate of Mayo High School Class of 1976. 

     Diane had various places of employment with her most recent being a Food Service Operator through Darlington County School District until her health declined.

     At an early age, she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  For the past few years, she became an active member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Sylvester Lunn.

     Diane was a die-hard Clemson Tigers fan.  She loved to have fun.  Diane enjoyed music, dancing, on-line shopping, and talking on the telephone.

     Diane was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and all-around family member who cherished family, especially her precious grandsons. 

     Diane will be truly missed by her family and friends.

     Diane leaves to cherish fond memories: her loving and devoted daughter, Daphne (De’Shawn) Harrell of Florence, SC; five precious grandsons, Larry, Camari, Franklin, Timerius and Baby Zay’Den; one devoted brother, Collins (Terry) Harrell, Jr. of Darlington, SC; three loving sisters:  Vivian (Aaron) Bristow, Helen Toney and Glendora (Ray) Richardson all of Darlington, SC; two special nephews she helped reared as her own, Eric Harrell of Greenville, SC and Derrick Harrell of Darlington, SC; a special niece, Carla Bristow; two special cousins, Bertie Mae Jackson and Rudy Bishop; a special daughter, Latoya Green and a special friend, Wanda Frierson.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that were dear to her heart.

     In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Janie Mae Harrell.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held a the residence of a sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Aaron Bristow, 836 Johnson Street, Darlington.
