Ms. Denise Marie Simon

With heartfelt sympathy, Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Simon family announce the passing of Ms. Denise Marie Simon of Darlington, SC. Ms. Simon transitioned peacefully Saturday, October 25, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC, following an illness.

Visitation for relatives and friends will begin on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, daily at the residence, 1504 Millwood Dr, Darlington, SC.

Public viewing will be held 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Friday, October 31, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., 612 S Main St, Darlington, SC.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Tabernacle Worship Center, 1200 S Main St, Darlington, SC.

Obituary

     Ms. Denise Marie Simon was born in Darlington, South Carolina on September 11, 1962 a daughter of the late Judy Swinney and the late Ira Williams.  She was reared by her aunt and uncle, Sally & Al Willis in New Jersey. She entered her final resting place on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, South Carolina.

     She received her formal education in the New Jersey Public Schools graduating from Edgewood Regional High School in Atco, New Jersey where she ran Track and Field.  Denise was employed at Atlantic City Casino where she was a Black JackDealer.

    In February, 2025, after her health declined she moved to South Carolina to live with her sister, Belinda. She became a member of Tabernacle Worship Center under the leadership of Elder Timothy Ballard, Jr.

    Those left to cherish her memory are:  her siblings:  Tony Swinney of Baltimore, Maryland, Belinda Simon, Rose B. (Larry) Jones, Bernard Williams, John Williams, Paul Williams all of Darlington, South Carolina and Marilyn Williams of MD; a special nephew, Elliott (Tia) Simon of Baltimore, Maryland; one special niece, April Simon; a host of nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
