It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff and members of the Wingate family announce the passing of Ms. Carolyn Wingate of Nebo, North Carolina, formerly of Darlington, South Carolina. Ms. Wingate expired on Monday, January 1, 2024 in North Carolina following an illness.
Funeral service is 3:00PM on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Christ Temple Holiness Church with Suffragan Bishop Wesley Belin, officiating.
Ms. Carolyn Wingate was born in Hartsville, South Carolina on March 15, 1956 a daughter of the late Calamus Wingate and Annie Mae Coker Wingate. She entered into her eternal rest of Monday, January 1, 2024 at Cedarbrook Residential Center in Nebo, North Carolina following an illness.
Carolyn lived for some time in South Carolina and she later made her home in Winston-Salem, NC.
Carolyn was a very giving person and would give you the shirt off her back. She enjoyed dancing, listening to old music and playing cards. Carolyn could quote the Bible from front to back. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Calamus and Annie Mae Wingate; three brothers: James Quick, John Quick and Willis Wingate; a sister, Susan Wingate Bridges.
Those left to cherish her memory are: six children: Donella Wingate, Wanda Wingate, John Wingate, Kevin Wingate, Felicia Wingate and Victor Wingate; two sisters, Yvonne Quick and Cheryl Gurley; three brothers: Bernard Wingate, Allen Durant and Darren (Wendy) Durant; twenty-five grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at 103 Murraywood Drive, Darlington.
