It is with deepest sympathy that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Ms. Bernitha McCrea of Hartsville, SC. Ms. McCrea expired on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at her residence.
The family of Ms. Bernitha McCrea in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, would love to be surrounded by your presence. They acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic health conditions and ask that those who attend the service ensure you are wearing MASKS AND GLOVES and practice social distancing. During this time, the family needs mostly your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 22, 2020 at Darlington Memorial (City) Cemetery, D. Avenue, Darlington. Interment will follow.

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, Ms. Bernitha McCrea, a Beautiful soul, gained her wings. She was born in Kingstree, South Carolina on September 18,1970 a daughter of Heyward McCrea, Sr. and the late Laurel Bell Chandler who loved her dearly.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, niece and cousin. Bernitha received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools where she attended Hartsville High School.
She was just a small town girl with a Big Attitude and a Smile that will light up a room! She loved to dance and anyone who knew her knew she didn’t come to play! Very Outspoken and Charismatic. The Things you said and did will live and remain in our hearts forever. Watch over us as we continue to live for you!. You will be missed Dearly Our Sweet and beautiful “Nub” A.K.A “Nisey” The Dance floor is bigger up there.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her father, Heyward McCrea, Sr. of Kingstree, SC. her step-mother, Elizabeth Robinson, (a loving and caring Mother; her loving children: Rashaun McCrea, Miranda McCrea, Allen Crawford and Phlecia McCrea; her siblings whom she adored: Heyward Jr. McCrea Heyward Jr. II McCrea, Charlene Jackson, Thelma McCrea, Olivia McCrea; her stepsisters: Cathy Robinson, Sandra Robinson Pansy Robinson. Nadine Robinson Yolanda Robinson and Cynthia Robinson.
