It is with heartfelt sympathy that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Flynn family announce the passing of Ms. Barbara Ann “Pig” Flynn of Darlington, SC. Ms. Flynn transitioned on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC following an illness.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at St. James United Methodist Church, 312 Pearl St, Darlington, SC.
The family will be receiving condolences and friends daily from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the home, 1408 York Square Circle, Darlington, SC, starting Sunday, January 12, 2025.

Ms. Barbara Ann “Pig” Flynn was born in Darlington, South Carolina on March 1, 1950, a daughter of the late Roosevelt Flynn, Sr. and Clementine Johnson Flynn. She entered her final resting place on Thursday, January 9, 2025 in McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC after a sudden illness.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Mayo High School Class of 1970.
Barbara lived all her life in Darlington where she worked at Sarah Lee Hosiery in Hartsville, SC as a machine operator.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and family member. Barbara was a selfless, hardworking, active, caring woman who loved to cook and play cards. To know her was to love her. She was the guide that everyone she encountered loved the most.
Those who cherished her life with her are: her loving daughter, Kimberly Flynn of Darlington, SC who was also her caregiver; three grandchildren: Anthony Flynn, Shron Flynn, and Ka’Naya Jones all of Darlington, SC; one great grandchild: Amilyah Flynn of Darlington, SC; three sisters: Vickie (Wayne) Trapp of Greenville, SC, Cheryl Flynn (Timothy) Jeffrey and Christine Flynn both of Darlington, SC; three brothers: Johnny (Mary) Flynn, Andrew (Wanda) Flynn both of Darlington, SC and Author (Stella) Johnson of Benson, NC; a special nephew, Derek Flynn; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: a brother, Roosevelt “Peanut” Flynn, Jr. and a sister, Judy Ann Flynn.
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
