Ms. Annette Luster

November 2, 1938 ~ July 26, 2023 (age 84) 84 Years Old


It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Ms. Annette Luster of Darlington.  Ms. Luster transitioned peacefully at Oakhaven Nursing Facility following an illness. 

Funeral service is 10:00AM on Saturday, July 29, 2023 in the Chapel of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow in Cherry Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. 



    “For now I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto allthem also that love His appearing.”                        II Timothy 4:6-8

    Mrs. Annette Luster was born on November 2, 1938, to Mrs. Netter Berry Ragin in Darlington, SC. She entered into her final resting place on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Oakhaven Nursing Center, Darlington, SC. 

   At an early age, she moved to Baltimore, MD with her mother. She received her formal education in the Baltimore, MD public schools.  After high school and college, she moved to Bronx, NY where she was employed at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital as a Children Ward Clerk.  While living in New York, she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Bronx, NY where she worked faithfully in the church as an Usher and whatever capacity that was needed. After retiring, she moved back to South Carolina in 2015 and joined Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church. 

    Annette became ill and became a resident at Elmcroft Assisted Living, Bethea Nursing Facility and lastly at Oakhaven Nursing Facility, where she passed quietly and peacefully. 

    Those left to cherish her memory are:  her aunt, Mrs. Mary Sue Hudson of Darlington, SC; special cousins and caretakers,  Ms. Rosa Hudson of Darlington, SC and  Rodney (Hazel) Burrell of Baltimore, MD; her dear friends, Levi Scarborough & Christine Scarborough along with their family of Columbia, SC; friend and caretaker, Patty (Fritz) Edwards & Family of Newark,New Jersey ; a host of many cousins; family in SC and other states; she had many close friends in New York and New Jersey that were dear to her.
