It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the transition of Mrs. Viola Johnson Carraway of Darlington. Mrs. Carraway transitioned on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at her residence.
Graveside service will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 7, 2020 in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Mrs. Viola Johnson Carraway was born August 22, 1941 in Darlington, South Carolina a daughter of the late Calperta “Mickey” Johnson and Louis “Pee Wee” Gurley. She entered into her final resting place on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at her residence.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools System.
At an early age, Viola accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a devoted member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Women.
Viola was blessed with three children; a daughter, Blondell Johnson preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish her memory are: a daughter, Flossie (John) Wilson of Wilmington, NC; a son, Melvin (Tracy) Johnson of Midlothian, VA; eight grandchildren: Vondarious (Kourtney) Johnson of Arizona, Tameka Johnson of Richmond, VA, Melvin (Sade) Johnson of Fayetteville, NC, Melvin Wright, Alexia Carraway of Wilmington, NC, Jaikia Johnson, Jaimel Johnson and Jaishawn Johnson all of Florence, SC; five great grandchildren: Aaliyah Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA, Kaelyn Johnson of Alabama, Kaleb Johnson of Petersburg, VA, Chloe Johnson of Fayetteville, NC and Korey Johnson of Arizona; a very special step-daughter, Edell (Leon) McDaniel of Lydia, SC; a loving aunt, Cleon Toombs of Richmond, VA; a god-son, Tre’yton Patterson; close and special cousins: Modestine Scipio of Darlington, SC and Vernita Wingate Thomas of Darlington, SC; a host of special family and friends.
