It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Moses and Gregory families share the peacefully transition of Mrs. Thomasina Moses Gregory of Darlington. Mrs. Gregory bid this old world farewell in the early morning hours on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Oakhaven Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Funeral service is 11:30am on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Glorious Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ with Bishop Joe Hines, Officiating. Interment will follow in Round O Baptist Church Cemetery.
PUBLIC VIEWING for Mrs. Gregory will be on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 12NOON until 3:00PM in the chapel.
Life and Legacy of Thomasina Moses Gregory
Mrs. Thomasina Moses Gregory was born on March 26, 1940, in Darlington, South Carolina a daughter of the late Lottie Mae Moses. She entered into her final rest on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Oakhaven Nursing Center, Darlington, SC.
She received her education in the Darlington County Public School. In her early years, Thomasina moved to New Jersey, where she worked in home health care and hospitality. Eventually, she returned to her hometown in 1983 due to health concerns.
She married William T. Gregory in August 1996, but he preceded her in death in 1997. In the year 2000, Thomasina was baptized at the Glorious Apostolic Church in Darlington, reflecting her strong faith.
Thomasina spent her final 11 years at Oak Haven Nursing Facility. She passed away, leaving cherished memories to her love ones. She was preceded in death by: her son, Nathaniel Moses; her siblings: Charlie Mae Dewitt, Dorothy Samuel, Queen Esther Moses and Jessie Joint.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her children: Eric White, Lucretia Johnson, Cassandra Moses, Melissa Webb (married to Charles Webb), and Walter Davis (married to Marashea Davis), will always hold her dear to their hearts. Additionally, she nurtured Willie Moses, her nephew, after his mother Queen Esther Moses' passing. Also, Tamika Allen and Myesha Burks, raising them as if they were her own children.
Thomasina is survived by her sisters: Caldonia Lyde, Kathy Nettles, Linda Wormley, and Patricia Moses; her brother-in-law, Johnny Dewitt; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of a son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Marshae Davis, 3102 Trellis Lane, Florence.
