Mrs. Thomasina Cotton Peterson

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Cotton family announces the passing of Mrs. Thomasina Cotton Peterson of Darlington. Mrs. Peterson passed on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at her residence following an illness. 

Funeral service is 3:00pm on Thursday, November 17, 2022 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Thomasina "FROG" Cotton Peterson was born October 08, 1964 in Darlington, South Carolina to the late Mary Elizabeth Cotton Scipio and the late Raymond Dubose. She entered her her final resting place on November 10, 2022. 

She received her formal education in Darlington County Public Schools graduating from St. John's High School Class of 1982. 

Thomasina worked various jobs including a scorekeeper for Darlington Recreational, but driving trucks was her passion until her health declined. 

Survivors left to cherish her beautiful memory are: Her son, Jason (Ashley) Cotton Sr.; Her life partner of 20 plus years, Dewayne A. Green; 4 grandchildren: Diamond, Jason Jr, Dominique, and Danyalle; her Brothers: Joey (Kitiana) Scipio, Joel (Lorraine) Scipio, George (Kathy) Scipio, Sammie (Stacey) Scipio, Timothy Cotton, Edward Scott Jr, Bernard Scott; her Sisters: Tanya Marie Scipio, Wanda Cotton, Dorothea Chambers, Haieasha (Roderick) Singletary, Monica Swaby, Angela Chandler, and Barbara Jean Dubose-Willoughby; a special Aunt who helped raised her, Georgia C. Johnson, 2 more Aunts, Barbara (Willard) Jett, and Jannie Evans; her Uncles: Tommy (Peggy) Cotton Sr.,  Isaac Alford, William DuBose, and Bowman Lighty; 2 loyal friends: Teresa Ransom, and Shelia Carmen, host of nieces, nephews, other  relatives, and friends.

"FROG" was proceeded in death by her parents, grandparents, 2 Aunts: Shirley Ann Cotton and Virginia Mae Cotton Alford and 1 Uncle, Joe DuBose.

No visitation to the residence on Sunday, November 13, 2022.

Visitation will begin on Monday, November 14, 2022 to Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, daily. Please wear a mask when visiting the home of Mrs. Georgia Johnson, 314 Blue Street, Darlington.
