Mrs. Shirley Tedder Hickman

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Shirley Tedder Hickman of the Dovesville Community.  Mrs. Hickman expired on Monday evening, July 22, 2019 at her residence.  

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Glorious Apostolic Church with Bishop Joseph Hines, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

On Monday, July 22nd, 2019, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt left this earthly world to be with her family in Heaven. 

Shirley was born in Darlington, SC, the oldest child and oldest daughter of Howard and Carrie Tedder. She received her formal education in Rosenwald Schools in Society Hill, Jobs Corps in Oregon and most recently her nursing assistant certificate at Florence- Darlington Technical College. 

She loved attending church, praising God and helping her family, being a source of joy and support to all who were blessed to know her. 

Shirley was employed with various manufacturing facilities as a sewing machine operator and also worked as a seamstress in her home. 

Shirley Tedder Hickman is survived by her loving family and friends: devoted mother: Carrie Tedder of Dovesville, SC; a brother: Howard Tedder, Jr. of Dovesville, SC; sisters: Barbara DeWitt and Linda Smutherman of Columbia, SC; granddaughter: Keondra Hickman of Dovesville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members and friends and friends who loved her dearly. 

She was preceded in death by her father: Howard "Nick" Tedder, Sr.; daughter: Termetris Hickman; and a grandson: Derrick George. 

Visitation for relatives and friends will begin on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 3436 Wallflower Lane, Darlington.
