It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Queenester Coe Thompson of Darlington. Ms. Thompson passed on Sunday, January 8, 2023 in a Florence hospital following an illness.
Funeral service is 11:00AM on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Christ Temple Holiness Church. Interment will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Queenester Coe Thompson also known as “Snuke”, was born in Darlington, South Carolina on September 30, 1951 a daughter of the late Maybell Coe Broadnax and Early Bruce, Jr. She departed this life on Sunday, January 8, 2023 in McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC after an illness.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.
Queenester was united in marriage to Willie James Thompson.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her husband, Willie James Thompson of the home; three children: Gregory Thompson, William Thompson and Daniel (Kay) Thompson; four brothers: James Coe, Sammy Lee Broadnax, Larry Bruce and Dewitt Bruce; two sisters: Ethel (Rodney) Brockington and Bernice Broadnax; a daughter-in-law, Deloris Thompson; four grandchildren: Marquel Thompson, Tre Thompson, Cameron Thompson and Lydia Thompson; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maybell Coe Broadnax, her step father, Sam Broadnax, her father, Early Bruce, Jr.; brothers: John Brockington, James Bruce, Leroy Bruce; a son, Calvin Thompson and an infant daughter, Linda Thompson.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 857 Ladys Lane, Darlington.
