Mrs. Queen Ester Johnson

July 27, 1953 ~ June 3, 2020 (age 66)

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Queen Ester Johnson of Darlington. Mrs. Johnson expired on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at a Florence hospital.  

The family of Mrs. Queen Ester Johnson in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, would love to be surrounded by your presence. They acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic health conditions and ask that those who attend the service ensure you are wearing BOTH MASKS AND GLOVES and practice social distancing.  During this time, the family needs mostly your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.

Graveside service will be 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 7, 2020 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow.  

     Mrs. Queen Esther Johnson was born July 27, 1953 in Darlington County a daughter of the late Albert and Lillie Mae James Moses and Mr. Jack Thomas of Darlington SC. She entered her eternal resting place on June 3, 2020.
     Queen received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School System (Rosenwald). She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
     Queen was the peaceful and easy going member of the family, to know her was to love her and her unique smile.  She loved her family dearly but most of all she loved the Lord. Although she enjoyed many things, her passion was fitness (staying healthy).
     Queen was employed by Coker College, Darlington County School District and Hampton Inn Suites in Florence, SC. She retired in 2018.
     Those left to cherish her precious and loving memory are: her devoted and loving husband, Larry Johnson of the home; her four children: Lisa Bennett, Reggie Bennett both of Darlington, SC, Jermel (Crystal) Johnson of Charlotte, NC and Gaven  Johnson of Atlanta, GA; three siblings: Mittie (Melvin) Joint, Joseph (Leatha) James and Christine Hardy all of Darlington; her twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly; a host of special aunts and uncles whom she loved.
     She was preceded in death by: her parents, Albert Moses and Lillie Mae James Moses.
    Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at 1511 Kodiack Drive (off Jeffords Mill Road), Darlington.
