Mrs. Pearlie Mae Gray Bruce was born October 1, 1936, in Darlington, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Cleveland and Pearlie Mae Gray. She entered into her final resting place on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the home of her daughter.

Pearl was a faithful member of Christ Temple Holiness Church where she was baptized in Jesus Christ and received the Holy Ghost under the ministry of the late Suffragan Bishop Wallace Johnson.  She served on numerous auxiliaries of the church until her health declined: Gospel Choir, Mass Choir, Usher, Vice President of the Usher Board, President of the Usher Board and member of the Church’s Golden Jewels Club.  Pearl’s passion was being an usher. She loved to greet people at church and at the North Carolina State Council with a smile. She was always willing to help any organization in the church. Sister Pearlie Mae was truly a Golden Jewel.

Pearlie received her formal education in the Darlington County School System. She began her working career at Clark Nursing Home of Florence, SC, Oak Haven Nursing Home of Darlington, SC, Coleman-Amar Hospital of Darlington, SC, The Carriage House of Darlington, Darlington SC and the Christ Temple Daycare.

On January 6, 1962, she was united in marriage to the late Joshua Bruce and this union was blessed with four children.
