It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Coe/Ings Families announce the passing of Mrs. Ophelia Coe Ings of Lamar, South Carolina. Mrs. Ings passed early Thursday morning, April 21, 2022 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Hartsville, South Carolina following a brief illness.
Funeral service is 2:00PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at St. Johns United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ophelia Coe Ings was born in Darlington County on August 17, 1948, a daughter of the late Mrs. Addie Lee Lucas Coe and Mr. Willie “Bill” Coe. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Hartsville, SC.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School where she was a proud graduate of Spaulding High School Class of 1967.
Mrs. Ings was a lifelong member of Saint John United Methodist Church in the Oates Community. She was an active member of St. John’s Senior Choir and the United Methodist Women.
Ophelia worked various jobs throughout her life. In the 1980’s, she was employed with Morrell Nursing Center, Hartsville, SC and McCoy Memorial Nursing Center, Bishopville, SC as a Nurse’s Assistant.
Ophelia had an infectious smile and lived a beautiful life. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and making beautiful floral arrangements. Baking cakes was one of her specialties along with being a caretaker for many. Above all, Ophelia had great love for her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her two loving daughters: Simone (Gregory) Green of Hartsville, SC and Tara (Devin) Mingo of Darlington, SC; three sisters: Novella Fox, Arnese Coe and Jennie Waiters all of Oates, SC; a cousin raised as a sister, Jacqueline “Mae” Anderson of Lamar, SC; one aunt, Dora Grant of Darlington, SC; four grandchildren: Jasmine Mingo of Florence, SC, Avrin Smith of Hartsville, SC, Ebony Mingo and Unique Ross both of Darlington, SC; one great granddaughter, Ryleigh James of Florence, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Ings was preceded in death by: her sisters: Doristeen Coe, Rosa Lee Dinkins, Elease Stevenson and Betty Joyce Ross; three brothers: Billy Lyde, Marion Willie Lucas and Charlie Coe; her ex-husband, Ronald Ings.
Visitation for relatives and friends is held at the residence, 1044 Scott Drive, Oates Community, Lamar, South Carolina.
