It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Kelly and James families announce the passing of Mrs. Nala James Kelly of Darlington, SC. Mrs. Kelly exchanged time for eternity on Thursday, January 16, 2025, after an illness.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2025, at New Beginnings Christian Outreach Ministries, 914 Dixie St, Florence, SC. Interment will follow at Robinson Family Cemetery, Resolution Lane off Georgetown Rd, Darlington, SC.
The family will be receiving condolences and friends at the home of an aunt, Ms. Kimberly Wilds, 731 President St, Darlington, SC.
Obituary
Nala Dajai Neketa James Kelly, 29, was born June 29,1995, in Florence, South Carolina, and was the daughter of Frankie and Carol James. She transitioned from this life on January 16, 2025, at her home, 914 Pearl Street, Darlington, SC.
Nala was the granddaughter of the late Mary Lee and J.B. James, the late Richard and Margaret Washington, the late Roosevelt Brown, all of Darlington, and the late Christine Kemp of Marion.
She was preceded in death by Jimmy Givens, Uncle and Cloverine Givens, Aunt, Kenya Willoughby, sister.
Nala was educated in the Darlington County Schools where she received her GED. She completed a Certified Nursing Assistant program through Project Hope at Florence-Darlington Technical School.
Nala was a faithful and beloved member of New Beginning Outreach Ministry of Florence, South Carolina, where she was a member of the choir, Trustee Board, and was a Deaconess in training.
Nala was united in marriage to the love of her life, Michael Kelly, and to that union was born another love of her life, Noah.
Those left to celebrate her homegoing and cherish her memory are: her loving and devoted husband, Michael Kelly; son, Noah Kelly of the home; parents, Frankie and Carol James of Darlington; two brothers, Kareem James of Atlanta, Michael James of Darlington; two sisters, Tiffany Brown of Winnsboro, South Carolina, Takea (Antonio) Jones of Darlington; aunts, Kimberly Wilds, Mary Mills, Angela Dubose, Regina Wilkins all of Darlington, Bobbie Jean Singletary, of Charlotte, NC; Yvonne (Sherman) Offord of Aiken, SC; uncles, George James, of Columbia; Kevin Brailey, Augusta, GA; a special Son, Treyshawn James, of the home; Nadine James, mother-in-law of Florence; William Kelly, father-in-law, of Hartsville; Nathan Kelly, brother-in-law of Columbia; special sisters: Shayla Alston, Courtney Brown, Janeisha McFarland, Kayanna Wilds, Keisha Jordan; four nephews and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
