Mrs. Minnie Gilbert Jeffery

With sorrow, the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home announces the passing of Mrs. Minnie Gilbert Jeffery of Darlington who passed on Saturday, December 26, 2020 in a Florence Hospital. 

Celebration of Life will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 31, 2020 in Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. Please adhere to mask wearing and social distancing. 

Obituary

Mrs. Minnie Lee Gilbert Jeffery better known as Sister was born in Darlington County on November 15, 1938.  She was the daughter of the late Glover and Beulah Gilbert.  She departed this earthly life on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at MUSC-Health, Florence Medical Center. 

She received her former education in the Darlington County Public School System. 

Minnie lived all of her life in Darlington County. She was baptized and received Christ at an early age. Minnie was a former member of Macedonia Baptist Church and later became a member of Westside Temple Holiness Church. She was united in marriage to the late James Jeffery and this union was blessed with six children. 

Those left to cherish her memories are five children: Linda Jeffery of the home, Cleveland Jeffery, Sam (Geraldine) Jeffery, Charles (Ollie) Jeffery, both of Darlington, James (Sunet) Gilbert of Fayetteville, NC; Eight Grandchildren: Ebony Jeffery, Adrian Brown, Travis James, Shulaza Jeffery, Charles Jeffery, Jr., Cleveland McNeal, Sheneica Jeffery, and Tamera Damon; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers: Roland Gilbert, Allen (Donnie) Gilber, Glover (Johnnie) Gilbert, and Willie (Francis) Gilbert; one sister: Annie Lee Gilbert; a sister-in-law: Ernestine Frazier; two special nieces: Nikki Gilbert and Patricia Gilbert; a special nephew: Johnny “Pokey” Gilbert; Special family members: Pearlie Mae McNeal, Prophetess Mary Ham and her family, Ruth Zimmerman, Margie Jett, Louis Mumford, Frances Brunson, Martha Douglas, Rosa Lee McDonald, AzaleeMcPhail; her godson: Henry Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents: Glover and Beulah Gilbert, a daughter: Brenda Jeffery, brothers: James (Jake) Gilbert and Spencer Gilbert. 

Visitation is daily at the residence, 428 Mary Drive, Darlington from 12noon to 7pm.
