She was a devoted member of Sandy Grove United Methodist Church throughout her life, serving in countless roles, including, United Methodist Women, member of the Usher Board, chair of the food committee, choir member, and ultimately Mother of the Church. Her faith and service were cornerstones of her life, guiding her and inspiring those around her.
Mattie Lou was also a proud member of the Faithful Works Chapter #229 Order of the Eastern Stars and the Independent Royal and Ladies Knight, where she made lasting connections.

She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, quilting, and gardening, often sharing her creations and love for the earth with those around her. Known for her unwavering honesty, quick wit, and big heart, she was the cornerstone of her family, always keeping her children and grandchildren in line while instilling the values of hard work, kindness, and integrity.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Woodrow Gee; husband, Theo Rogers; her daughter, Arlene Rogers Williams; son-in-law,Franklin Douglas; and her siblings: Wilbert, Woodrow, Early Jr., Jessie Mae, Ruby Lee, and Trenia.
