Mrs. Williams transitioned Friday, March 14, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC, after an illness.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the residence, 107 Duke St, Lamar, SC.
Public viewing will be held 1:00-4:00 PM, Friday, March 21, 2025, in the Chapel of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., 612 S Main St, Darlington, SC.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Spaulding Middle School, 400 E Cartersville Hwy, Lamar, SC. Interment to follow at Plaza Memorial Cemetery, 214 W Pearl St, Lamar, SC.

Mrs. Margaret Bess Williams, affectionately known as “Muh”, was born December 19, 1947 in Darlington, South Carolina a daughter of the late Haskel Bess, Sr. and Eula Mae Samuel Bess. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, March 14, 2025 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, South Carolina.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.
At an early age, she was united in marriage to the late Henry Williams. To this union, three children were born.
She was a member of Savannah Grove A. M. E. Church, Lamar.
Margaret worked a Electric Motors for 10 years; later, she was employed at Craig Industries for 20 years. She enjoyed going to Bingo on the weekends and mostly loved spending time with her great grandchildren. She also loved watching sports and soap operas (her stories).
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Eula Mae Bess and Haskel Bess, Sr.; three brothers: Otis Lee Bess, Leroy Bess and Larry Bess; two nephews: Quentin Bess and Tim Bess.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters: Cynthia Williams of Darlington, SC, Patricia (Antonio, deceased) Wright of Elliott, SC and Vickie (Joseph) King Lamar, SC; four grandchildren: Brandon (Laura) Williams of Greenville, SC, Lakesha Williams of Marion, SC, Porscha Williams of Darlington, SC and Vernetta Williams of Lamar, SC; nine great grandchildren: Kamori Williams, Cameron Williams, Shakira Williams, Aryonna Williams, Taylor Freeman, Khalil Williams, Aiden Greene, Zion Williams and Curtis Joe, Jr.; three brothers: Robert (Sandra) Bess, Donell (Mary Ann) Bess both of Darlington, SC and Haskel (Delores) Bess of Lamar, SC; four sisters: Mary Jane Goodson of Hartsville, SC, Eliza Jane (Robert) McClain of Lamar, SC, Judy (Chris) Coleman of Florence, SC and Delores (DeWayne) Dials of Darlington, SC; three sisters-in-law: Gwen Bess of Darlington, SC, Marie (Willie) Primes Lamar, SC and Gladys Damon of Bishopville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
