Obituary

“God saw the road was getting rough, the hills too hard to climb; so he gently closed her eyes and whispered ‘Peace be thine’.”

Mrs. Louise Richardson King was born in Darlington, South Carolina on July 23, 1938, a daughter of the late SwillieRichardson, Sr. and the late Katie Law Richardson. She departed her earthly life on Thursday morning, January 21, 2021 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina, after a brief illness.

She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.

Louise joined and was baptized at New Providence Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until her health declined. She was a member of the Pastor’s Aide and the Kitchen Committee.

Louise lived all of her life in Darlington County where she was gainfully employed as a domestic worker doing various jobs.  She was an advocate for the community in helping citizens register to vote.  Louise also had a passion for all sports.  The Pittsburgh Steelers was her favorite football team.

“Poopie” as she was affectionately called, loved her family and nobody was a stranger to her.

Dubose, and Edward King, Jr.; eighteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren; a special daughter: Linda Stuckey; two sisters: Sarah Shearin of Philadelphia, PA and Elouise Gardner of Florence, SC; two sister-in-laws: Pearl R. Robinson and Barbara Richardson, both of Philadelphia, PA; one godson: Jalil Shabazz; two special cousins/best friends: Mrs. Ruby Shula of Darlington, SC and Ms. Corrie Mae Lide of Florence, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Mr. Monroe King, Sr., seven sisters, and five brothers.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 205 Divinity Road, Darlington from 4:00pm to 8:00pm daily. Masks are required.
