It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Bostic and Jackson families share the passing of Mrs. Lillian Olivia Bostic Jackson. Mrs. Jackson transitioned early Monday morning, May 23, 2022 at her residence following an illness.
Funeral service is 11:00AM on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Yard. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Life’s Reflections
Mrs. Lillian Olivia Bostic-Jackson was born in Darlington, South Carolina on February 23, 1940 to the late George Bostic Jr. and Naomi Coe Bostic. She departed this life peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022 at her residence.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools and graduated from Mayo High School in Darlington, SC. Lillian accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church until moving to Philadelphia, PA where she attended nursing school and got her RN degree. She worked as a nurse in hospitals throughout Philadelphia and also worked as a private duty nurse. Using her nursing skill to always care for her family and friends.
It was in Philadelphia that she met and married the love of her life the late Robert Lee Jackson. After they both retired in 2007 they returned to their hometown of Darlington, SC where they both joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Lillian was a faithful member of the church and when she could no longer attend in person she would make sure she attended church on Sundays via online Youtube or just sitting on her back porch and listening to Black Creek Baptist Church services next door. She would also do phone conference bible studies on Thursday nights with family and friends.
She loved her family and loved getting together with them. Lillian was a member of the Darlington Coe Family Reunion Committee for many years.
Lillian was a loving wife, daughter, sister, niece, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed. Surviving to cherish her memory are: a daughter, Marie Williams; stepdaughters: Linda (Larry) Bradshaw and Robin Jackson; a stepson, Anthony (Lisa) Murray; siblings: Alexander Bostic, Mary Bacote, Howard “Willie James” Phillips; an aunt: Mary M. Coe Poole; sisters-in-law, Lottie Bostic and Verma Lee Bostic; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her three brothers: George Bostic III, Eugene Bostic, and James G. Bostic.
