It is with heartfelt condolences that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Ham and Jeffery families announce the death of Mrs. Judy Ham Jeffery of Darlington. Mrs. Jeffery passed on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at her residence following an extended illness.
Celebration of Life is 11:00AM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 in Center Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hart No. 3 Cemetery. Public viewing will be Monday, December 26, 2022 from 12 Noon to 5:00PM in the Chapel.

Time to be Born: Judy was born June 16, 1947, to Theodore, Jr. “Junius” Ham and Eva Hamlin Ham in Darlington, SC. Judy Ham Jeffery departed this life into her eternal resting place at her home on December 21, 2022 after an extended illness.
Time to Grow & Soar: Judy was a 1968 graduate of Mayo High School, Darlington SC. In her younger years, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Judy retired from Medford Nursing home in Darlington as a housekeeper.
Time to Love: After retiring, her loving spirit towards children lead her to help rear children in the church, family, and the neighborhood until it became impossible for her to do so. Judy was friendly to everyone, yet she had a quiet demeanor. She would hold conversations and smile. Judy married her longtime sweetheart, James Jeffery on July 31, 2016.
Time to Worship: Judy was a lifelong, dedicated member of Center Baptist Church. Judy enjoyed singing with the Celestial Choir until her health declined.
Time to Mourn: Judy loved her bonus family; especially the children who are her biggest joys. Judy is survived by her loving & devoted husband, James Jeffery of the home; Five bonus children: Carol “Diane” Jones Sullivan of Bennettsville, SC, Alisa (Sidney) Felix of Lynchburg, SC, Amy Graham, William McBryde both of Red Springs, NC and Thaddeus Jett of Columbia, SC; five grandchildren: Kiara Adams of Florence, SC, Kemo (Meesa) Jones of Hampton, GA, Keondra (Michael) Archie of Simpsonville, SC, Delaine Mason and A’yanna Ellison; Special neighbors: Quayveon and Nasir Lewis; and family & Sahara Gibbs, who also adopted Judy as their “Grandma”; five Great-grandchildren; four brothers: Charles Ham of Tucson Arizona; Louis Ham; Willie “Bill” (Rudine) Ham; Odell “Smitty” Ham; one Sister, Bernatha (Clarence) Bess; A special nephew, Timothy Ham who adored his Aunt Judy Mae; four brothers-in-law: Nelson (Betty) Jeffery of Timmonsville, SC, Gene Jeffery of Florence, SC, Amos (Ming) Jeffery of Anchorage, Alaska and Byron Jeffery and Concord, NC; six sisters-in-law: Dorothy McRae, Evelyn Jeffery, Vanessa Jeffery, Sandra Washington, Sara (Gary) Gibbs, Darlington, SC, and Debra (William) Bacote of Lawrenceville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceded her in death were her parents; three brothers: McIvory, Theodore “Bubba” & Eugene Ham and two sisters–in–law.
Judy’s family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Owens of McLeod Regional Medical Center, Judy’s Hospice care team: Stephanie & Justin Shaw and Stacy Beaver from McLeod Hospice, Cheraw, SC, Sisters-in-law Evelyn Jeffery & Sara Gibbs for taking care of Judy during her extended illness. She will forever remain in our hearts.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 100 Springfield Circle, Apt. 12B, Darlington from 3:00 to 7:00pm daily.
