It is with heartfelt sympathy that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Jessie Mae Hickman Lighty. Mrs. Lighty expired on Monday, July 16, 2018 in a North Carolina Hospital.
Funeral Service are scheduled for 12 Noon on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Center Baptist Church.
~Obituary~
Mrs. Jessie Mae Hickman Lighty was born September 19, 1942, a daughter of the late O.D. and Eva Shannon Hickman. She departed her earthly life on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, North Carolina to enter eternal rest.
Jessie Mae attended the Darlington County Public School System.
She accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior and was an active member at Center Baptist Church before her health declined.
Jessie Mae was a Farmer in the Syracuse Community of Darlington County.
She was a godly woman who loved her family and the Lord Jesus Christ. Her favorite saying was, “The Lord will make a way somehow.” It was always a joy and pleasure to be in her presence.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children: Carolyn Lighty Johnson, Deborah Lighty (Robert Lee) Mingo, William Lighty, Jr. and Jessie Ann Lighty (Sammie Cotton) all of Darlington, SC; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; her siblings: Rosa Lee Hickman of Brooklyn, NY, Annie Ruth Lesane of Virginia, Levi Hickman and O.D. Hickman, Jr. both of Darlington; a special nephews, Boyd Hickman and Dozier Hickman; a special niece, Tammy Hickman whom she help raised as her own; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also had a few special friends: Mary Barcus, Kate Delane and Bernice Baccus.
Jessie Mae was preceded in death by her sibling: Carrie Lee Jacob, Toy Hickman, Eva Mae Leonard, Otis Hickman, and Roy Hickman; one grandchild, Jervis Deon Lighty.
The Lighty Family will be receiving relatives and friends at the residence, 2429 High Hill Road, Darlington.
