It is with heartfelt sympathy that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Anderson and Ward families announce the transition of Mrs. Jeanette Anderson Ward of Hartsville, SC. Mrs. Ward passed peacefully at her residence on Thursday, November 14, 2024, following an illness.
Obituary
Jeannette Ward was born August 11, 1958, in Lee County a daughter of the late Jessie and Janie Mae Byrd Anderson. She departure this life on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at her residence.
She received her formal education in the Lee County Public Schools System (Bishopville). As a young adult, Jeanette moved to Hartsville, SC.
She was the baby girl of three siblings, of which one brother, Frank Anderson and his daughter, Teresa Anderson preceded her in death.
Jeanette was very loving and kind to everyone that knew her. Her hobbies included dancing and making TikTok’s with the grandkids, singing for fun, cutting jokes and traveling. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jeannette loved to cook and with that gift she was employed at The Garden Terrace for over 15 years. She continued her talent in the food industry for Darlington County School District until she retired at 65 years old.
Those left to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Edward Ward of Hartsville, SC; three loving daughters: Lakesha (Aaron Hines) Anderson, Shemeka Anderson and Chiquitta Ward all of Hartsville, SC; one step-daughter, LaTisha Peterson: eighteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Jessie Mae (Jimmy) Johnson of Hartsville, SC; one brother, Donnie Anderson of Lamar, SC; one god-sister, Ada Brown; two sisters-in-law: Monica Ward and Ruby Anderson, one brother-in-law, four special nieces: Frances (Shepherd) Washington of Bishopville, SC, Cheryl Anderson, Wanda Govan, Dione Govan all of Hartsville, SC; four special nephews: Terrell Anderson, Tahjae Edwards of Hartsville, Donald Price and Terrance Price; special best friend, Rosa Peoples; five special co-worker who are like her sisters: Mildred Murphy, Allene Buchanan, Calperta Cranford, Glendora Toney.
We will truly miss her, she was well-loved by all who knew her, which included a host of family and friends.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of a daughter, Ms. Lakesha Anderson, at 506 Rice St., Hartsville, SC.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM, Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at St John United Methodist Church, 214 W Seven Pines, Lamar, SC. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
