It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Irene DuBose Brown of Darlington. Mrs. Brown passed on Saturday, December 24, 2022 in Medford Nursing Facility following an extended illness.
Funeral service is 11:00AM on Friday, December 30, 2022 in Shiloh United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Irene Dubose Brown was born in Darlington, South Carolina on February
5, 1926 a daughter of the late Evans Dubose, Sr. and Rachael Jones Dubose. She departed her earthly life on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at Medford Nursing Home after an illness.
Irene received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools. She was a life member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where she served in any capacity as needed.
She lived all her life in Darlington, SC where she did odd jobs.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by: a son, Johnson Howard; two grandchildren: Jackie Brown and Deatrice Curtis; her sisters: Louise Curtis, Alice Hunter, Elease Wilson; her brothers: Wesley Dubose, Hattie Dubose, Mason Dubose and Bernest Dubose.
Irene leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters: Carolyn Wilson of New York, Georgia Brown of Florence, SC and Salula Brown of Darlington, SC; four grandchildren: Keshia Brown, Kendra Brown, Whitley Brown and Michael (Carol) Howard; several great grandchildren; two brothers: Walter Dubose and Evans Dubose, Sr.; a daughter-in-law, Lillie Mae Howard; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
