Obituary
“For now, I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.”
II Timothy 4:6-8
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”
John 11:25-26

She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School System graduating from St. John’s High School, Darlington, SC Class of 1973. She began her working as teacher’s aide in the Florence Public School System. Her passion to care for people lead her to become a certified nursing assistant. Ida was a long-time loving matriarch with a spirit of confidence and strength that others cherished and relied on. She spent most mornings quietly sipping coffee or ginger tea while reading her daily word. Ida was a phenomenal cook whose love was felt through the many dishes she would prepare for her family and those she cared for. Her homemade sweet potato pie and cornbread dressing are among the many dishes that will be missed. Ida loved her family and organizing trips to the beach to spend time together with them. She liked learning about old collectible items and antiques. She had a vibrant and colorful sense of style which reflected her personality, beautiful brown skin and radiant smile! She was a reliable, supportive, constant who made a positive impact on her family, friends, colleagues and the people around her.
