It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Hermenia Graham Yarborough of Darlington. Mrs. Yarborough transitioned early Wednesday, March 3, 2021 in McLeod Regional Medical Center following an illness.
Funeral service is 2:00pm on Tuesday, March, 9, 2021 in Wilds Quarter Cemetery, Rogers Road, Darlington. Interment will follow. Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing at this service.
Obituary
On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, Ms. Hermenia “Hezzy” Yarborough, quietly and peacefully accepted her wings from her Lord and Savior (Jesus Christ).
Ms. Hermenia “Hezzy” Yarborough was born on January 1, 1947 in Darlington, SC to the late Roosevelt “Hun” Graham Sr. and Mary L. Johnson Graham.
She attended Darlington County Public Schools and was a graduate of Mayo High School Class of 1965. She was most recently employed by Incredibly(Special) family friends Mr. & Mrs. Ricky and Penny Bonnoitt of Darlington, SC.
Ms. Hermenia was a member of Bethel AME Church (Member of Class 7) and served on the Cooking Committee. Cooking was her passion! especially, “Her Collard Greens and Chicken Bog”. A true “MATIARCH”, that she truly was, the “Glue” that held this family together, the “Backbone”, a Mother, a Sister, a Grandmother, an Aunt, a Niece, a Family/friend and those who knew her, the list can go on and on to describe this amazing WOMAN we knew as “Hezzy”!
She was married to the late Howard “Pete” Yarborough of Darlington, SC and bore three sons: Tyven T. (Deborah)Yarborough and LaHenry D. Yarborough both of Darlington, SC, Howard W. (Wanda) Yarborough of Honolulu, HI, God sons: Albert H. Sanders of New Haven, CT and Mark Bonnoitt of Darlington, SC, and a God daughter, Elizabeth Bonnoitt. She is also survived by 10 siblings: Modestine (Archie) Dargan, Roosevelt “Moon” (Gwendolyn) Graham, Ronnie (Gloria) Graham, Kasey (Nancy) Graham, Kathy Williamson, Gary Graham, Eddie Peterson, Steve Baker, and Alphonso (Shirley) Moses, three living Aunt’s: Ms. Lillie Mae Williams, Ms. Hermenia “Her” DuBose, and Herlina Morris all of Darlington, SC, one living Uncle: Frank (Martha Lee) Graham of Baltimore, MD, one Sister-in-Law: Patricia “Pat” Huff of New York, 11 Grandchildren, 7 Great-grand-children, Nieces, Nephews, and a host of other family members and friends who will greatly miss her.
She was preceded in death by two siblings.
Visitation will be held at the residence, 442 Opal Street, Darlington.
