Mrs. Henrietta Dubose

With heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Dubose family announce the transition of Mrs. Henrietta Dubose of Darlington, SC. Mrs. Dubose passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC. 

The family will be receiving condolences and friends starting Monday, January 27, 2025, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM daily at the home, 1377 Society Hill Rd, Darlington, SC.

Celebration of life will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 1, 2025, at St. Matthews United Church of Jesus Christ-Apostolic, 102 Sallie St, Darlington, SC. Interment will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens, Rogers Road, Darlington, SC.

    “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”  II Timothy 4:7-8

     Mrs. Henrietta Jones Dubose was born August 8, 1940 in Florence, SC a daughter of the late John Henry Jones and Inez Lucky Jones. She departed this life Friday, January 24, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

    She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Mayo High School Class of 1958.

    Mother Dubose joined St. Matthews #2 Church in 1974 and was a faithful member for 50 years. In the early years, she served as a Sunday School Secretary and Treasure.  She was on the Usher Board, sing on the Women Choir, Missionary Department and Women Council of the Church.

    Henrietta lived most of her life in Darlington County where she worked at Carolina Lunch/Dairy Bar for 50 years as a waitress until she retired in 2008.

   She was united in marriage to the late Lucius L. Dubose, Sr. for 59 years; this union was blessed with four children and one step-son.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucius L. Dubose, Sr.; her parents; a son, Winford Jones; a daughter, Linda Deloris Dubose; a son and daughter-in-law, Lucius L. Dubose, Jr. and Marva Grant Dubose; a sister and brother-in-law, Loretta (Zeb) Quicksey.

    Those left to cherish her loving memories are:  two daughters: Sandra Faye (Joseph) Mills and Wanda Lanette Repass both of Darlington, SC; four grandchildren: Roshonda (Derrick) Henry, Anthony Q. Robinson, Deontrey L. Campbell and Mya L. Dubose; two step grandchildren: Makayla N. and Jada M. Staggers; two great grandchildren: Areyana N. Henry and Zanasia S. Scott; four sisters-in-law: Emma J. Williams, Judy L. Rush, Janice Dubose and Mary A. (Horace) Williams all of Darlington, SC; one brother-in-law, Harry L. Dubose of Darlington, SC; a god-daughter, Sakaya Chambers; two adopted daughters: Lucille Ross and Juliette Miller; special friend, Cheryl Ellerbe; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
