Mrs. Gloria Ann Johnson

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home Inc., and members of the Goodson and Johnson families announce the peaceful transition of Mrs. Gloria Ann Johnson of the Syracuse Community, Darlington, SC. Mrs. Johnson exchanged time for eternity early Saturday morning, August 17, 2024, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC, after an illness.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 23, 2024, at Center Baptist Church, Sally Hill Rd, Timmonsville, SC, with interment following the service at Hart No. 3 Cemetery, Timmonsville Hwy, Darlington, SC.

Obituary

     “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”                                                                                   II Timothy 4:7-8

     Mrs. Gloria Ann Goodson Johnson, a daughter of the late Charles and Edell Hickman Goodson, was born July 26, 1966, in Florence, SC. She entered her final resting place on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.

     She received her formal education in the Darlington County School System.

     Gloria Ann was united in marriage to the late Sylvester Johnson.

     She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and watching western movies. To know her was to love her.  She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

     Those left to cherish her memory are: her three children, Shawndala Goodson, Chateka Goodson, and Roshonda Goodson; eight grandchildren, Shadavia Goodson, Shontavia Goodson, Christavion Stephenson, Devonte Graham, Lailah Goodson, Jo’Quori Brailey, Qua’Deir and Qua’Darius Brailey; one great-grandson, Sa’Phari Tyler; four siblings: Charlena (Apostle Laverne) Chapman, Geraldine (Sam) Jeffery, Patricia (Roy) Frierson and James (Irene) Goodson; five aunts:  Ruth Coe, Hannah, Williams, Jannie Dixon, Rosa Mae Hickman and Cheryl Hickman; a step-father, Walter Goodson; several sisters and brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of her sister and brother-in-law, Charlena and Apostle Dr. Laverne Chapman at 2060 Philadelphia Street, Darlington.
