Mrs. Georgia Mae "Billie" Berry Bacote

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Georgia Berry Bacote of Darlington. Mrs. Bacote transitioned on Saturday, September 03, 2022 at her residence following an illness. 

Celebration of Life for Mrs. Georgia Mae "Billie" Bacote will be 1:00PM on Saturday, September 10, 2022 in Morning Star Holiness Church, Apostle Edward Johnson, officiating. Interment will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens. 

Public viewing will be from 3:00PM to 7:00PM on Friday, September 9, 2022 in the Chapel of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. 

Obituary

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”  II Timothy 4:7-8

Mother Georgia Mae Berry Bacote was born to the late Harley and Miriam Berry Dolford in Darlington, South Carolina on December 28, 1942. She departed her earthly life on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the residence of her daughter following an extended illness. 

Billie, as she was affectionately called, attended the Darlington County Public School System.  She was employed with Nytronics as machine operator and was lastly employed at Quality Inn as a housekeeper.

Mother Bacote accepted Christ and was an active member of Morning Star Holiness Church, where she was honored to be one of the Mothers of the Church.

The memories of Mother Georgia Mae “Billie” Berry Bacote rest in the hearts of her children: Lori Berry, Chris (Lisa) Berry, Angela Williams, Melissa Bacote, Teresa Bacote, and Gregory Bacote; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great- grandchildren; three brothers: Lessley (Patricia Sawyer) Dolford, Franklin Dolford, and James (Margaret) Dolford; five sisters: Marie (Bennie Ray) Kennedy, Patricia (Burt) Bruce, Margie Dolford, Edna Dolford, Miriam “Lynn” Dolford, and Loretta Dolford; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her great grandchild, Thaddues “Trey” Coe, III; her sister, Betty Littles; and her brother, Emerson Dolford.  

Visitation for relatives and friends is held at the residence, 601 Wood Duck Drive, Darlington.
