Mrs. Fannie Lee Holmes Bradford Obituary

It is with deepest sympathy that the manage and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Fannie Lee Holmes Bradford of Lamar, SC. Mrs. Bradford transitioned on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in a Florence Hospice House. 

Funeral service will be 2:30PM on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Bethany Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Plaza Memorial Cemetery. 

                              ~Obituary~

Mrs. Fannie Lee Holmes Bradford was born January 20, 1942 in the farming community of Lamar, SC. She was the beloved daughter of the late Aleson and Rosa Lee Damon Samuel. She departed this life on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC.

She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.

 Mrs. Fannie was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church where she practiced dedicated Christian life.

 Fannie moved to Brooklyn, New York where she met and married the late Jasper Holmes, Sr.  This union was blessed with five children: Margie (Moses) Shaw, Cynthia Holmes (deceased), Jacqueline Walker, Jasper Holmes, Jr. (deceased) and Christopher (Janice) Holmes. A grandson she reared as her own, Shonte’ Holmes.

Later, she married the loved of her life of 46 years, the late David L. Bradford and this union was blessed with one daughter, Alisha (Randell) Ellison.

Fannie was a dedicated seamstress working at Craig Industries in Lamar, SC until her health began to fail.  Her hobbies was walking and listening to gospel music and oldies.

 In addition, she was survived by: her two brothers, Melvin Samuel and Henry (Mable) Samuel; one sister, Catherine Abson; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Norma Atkinson, Willie Mae Williams, Cleotis Benjamin and Elouise Cleveland; two brothers-in-law, Minister John (Bernice) Bradford and Bobby Bradford; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her siblings:  Martha Robinson, Jessie Mae Abson, Eula Mae Bess, Louise Woods and Moses Samuel

Visitation for the Holmes/Bradford Family will be held at the home of a daughter, Jacqueline Walker, 626 Bay Branch Road, Lamar, SC.
