Mrs. Ethelyn Mack Moses Obituary

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Ethelyn Mack Moses of Florence, SC.  Mrs. Moses passed on Friday, January 28, 2022 in McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee following a brief illness. 

Funeral service is 11:00AM on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Darlington Memory Gardens. Interment will follow. Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing for this service. 

Public viewing of Mrs. Ethelyn Mack Moses will be 12noon to 5PM on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 and Thursday, February 3, 200 from 10AM until 1PM in the Chapel of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. 

"Obituary"

Mrs. Ethelyn Mack Moses was born in Darlington County, South Carolina on January 3, 1959, a daughter of the late Sylvester Mack, Sr. and Willie Mae Harris Mack. Our heavenly Father granted our beloved Mother her wings on Friday evening, January 28, 2022 in McLeod Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Ethelyn attended the public schools of Darlington County, graduating from Butler High School in Hartsville, South Carolina, Class of 1977.

After high school, Ethelyn begin working in the work force. She was gainfully employed for 20 plus years at Galey & Lord in Society Hill, SC, Delta Finishing in Wallace, SC and finally she was employed in the Deli Department in Wal-Mart for over 15 years.

At an early age, she attended Lawson Grove Baptist Church, Hartsville, South Carolina. Ethelyn was married to Tony Moses.

She had a passion for cooking. Ethelyn could create some amazing chicken bog, corn bread dressing, and many other delicious meals.

Ethelyn loved the water and her favorite place to vacation was Myrtle Beach, SC. She would make sure to visit the beach at least once and twice a year.

Those left to cherish the memories and maintain the legacy of Ethelyn Mack Moses are: her children: Hernando Mack of Hartsville, SC, Antonio Moses (Janet Pigatt) of Florence, SC, and Alissha Joy Moses of the home; her grandchildren: Ty’Tiana Latrese Pendergrass, Raekwon Tyrik Pendergrass, Dashon Isiah Pendergrass, Javon Darice Pendergrass, Kwaleek Robinson, Shiheem Robinson, and Shaquis Pendergrass, all of Florence, SC; her sibling: Leon (Tonya) Mack of Florence, SC and Edward (Patricia) Mack, Timothy Mack and Rosa Lee Mack all of Hartsville, SC, Sylvester Mack, Jr. of Darlington, SC and Deloris (Jerry) Benjamin of Camden, SC; an aunt and uncle: Edward Mack and Patricia Mack, both of Darlington, SC; a special niece: Sheneaka Johnson of Florence, SC; a special cousin, Sheila Johnson of Darlington, SC; special friends: Teresa “Pee Wee” Johnson and Brenda Rogers, both of Hartsville, SC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and dear friends who regret her passing.  

Ethelyn was preceded in death by her parents: Sylvester Mack, Sr. and Willie Mae Mack; her daughter: Kamisha Dannette Mack; and her brother: Anthony Mack. 

The family is receiving friends at the residence of a son and daughter-in-law, Antonio (Janet Pigatt) Moses, 5011 Milan Road, Florence, SC. The visitation will begin on Wednesday, 2/2/22.
