Mrs. Eloise W. Wingate

With heartfelt sympathy, Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc, and members of the Wingate family announce the passing of Mrs. Eloise W. Wingate of Darlington, SC. Mrs. Wingate transitioned peacefully Sunday, November 16, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at 1217 Oleander Drive, Darlington, SC, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily.

Public viewing will be 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Friday, November 21, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., 612 S Main St, Darlington, SC. 

Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 513 Gilchrist Rd, Darlington, SC. Interment will follow at Faith Memorial Gardens, Rogers Rd, Darlington, SC.

Obituary

   Mrs. Eloise Wilson Wingate was born in the Kellytown Community, Hartsville, SC on December 3, 1932 a daughter of the late Candace Wilson.  She entered into her final resting place on Sunday morning, November 16, 2025 at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC.

    She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools in Hartsville, SC.

    She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness Darlington Congregation.

    She was united in marriage to the late Joseph Wingate, Jr. and they were blessed with five children.

    Eloise worked as a Farmer.

    Those left to cherish her memories are:  five children:  Bobby Wingate, Joann Wingate both of Florence, SC, Bertha Wingate Green, Lonnie Wingate and Herbert Lee Wingate all of Darlington, SC; four grandchildren:  Eric Bobby Wingate, Spencer Campbell, Mona Lisa Natasha (Kotese) Williams and Larry Antwan Green; two great grandchildren: Corey Dontrell McPhail and Jeron Deonte’ Briggs; one great-great grandchild, Yameriah Dundy; one sister-in-law, Betty Wingate McCall; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

     She was preceded in death by:  her husband, Joseph Wingate, Jr.; Winnie Lucky, Dorothy Mae Harris and Walter Wilson.
